Skullcandy Riff Wireless Headphone Review|When it comes to headphones and the audio products, there is hardly anyone who is unaware of the Skullcandy brand. Skullcandy has been providing a good range of products for a long time now. Recently, they came with the new Riff headphones which are wireless, called Riff Wireless.
If you are looking for the casual and daily life usage headset, this might come a little expensive with the price tag of Rs. 5,999 along with available best Snapdeal Coupons today. Light in weight, huge 12-hour battery life, and nice sound- this is what this audio product is about. But, is it enough to attract customers? Is this audio product worth it?
Let’s check in the Skullcandy Riff Wireless review below:
Design and Features
Riff Wireless is a super-aural pair which won’t cover your ears totally but earcups will only sit on them. The device gets plastic finish with headband i.e adjustable.
The hinges on the earcups are solid which can be swiveled out to give you comfortable around the neck look wearing them. Moreover, it can also be easily folded.
The Riff Wireless is available in four color variants – Black, White, Blue, Grey. The matte finish is good and doesn’t catch smudges and fingerprints. Although the device doesn’t feel too premium- not even feel like Rs. 5,999 product. The plastic is not cool at all and also there is no cushioning on the headband. The earcups get the cushioning though.
The device is very light weighing 159g. So, you can wear them around your head or neck for hours- totally comfortable. The right earcup got some buttons and a Micro-USB port for charging. You can adjust the volume and play or pause your music using these buttons.
Moreover, a long press on the volume up and down button can take you to the previous and the next track. Long pressing the play button will launch Siri or Google Assistant on your phone. Moreover, there is a microphone and a multi-colored LED for knowing the battery status.
This Skullcandy product uses 40mm drivers in each earcup with 32Ohms of impedance rating and a frequency range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz. The device only supports SBC codec and not the high-resolution codecs like AAC or aptx. In the box, you get a Micro-USB charging cable and a quick start guide.
Performance and battery life
The device can be paired easily with your smartphone. Hold the play button till the LED flashes red and blue and you are ready to go. The wear is quite comfortable but cushioning on the headband would be more of the comfort. The ears will start feeling warm after thirty minutes of a session which will be little uneasy in summers.
Coming to the audio quality, this audio product doesn’t provide a great output- considering the price it comes at. The vocals are clear and crisp but the bass and instruments overpower the vocals sometimes.
Moreover, the high notes weren’t frilling and thrilling at full volume too- it doesn’t have a very high volume too. The bass was really good though which overpowered the vocals at times and also mids too.
Coming to the battery, the device carries an in-built rechargeable battery which will give you 12 hours of battery life easily. On the three to four hours usage, you can easily use the device for three to four days easily.
Moreover, the device packs a quick charge feature which will charge the headphones for two hours usage in just 10 minutes of charge. The device will get its full tank in about an hour and a half. When the battery is low, you get a voice alert and the LED light turns red. You can also explore some other best wireless headphones available online with the latest valid Amazon Offers today.
The Skullcandy Riff Wireless is really good looking set of headphones, lightweight with a big battery life which might be really good for the day-to-day usage but the audio quality is something where the device leaves some patched behind.
The vocals are clear but the bass overpowers them which you might find disturbing and irritating to years. At the price point of Rs. 5,999, you might get a heavy bass with a nice audio quality headphone like the Sony MDR-XB650BT which has a 30-hour battery life at this price point only. Also, there is a pair of JBL E55BT which gives nice audio quality under the price point of Rs. 6,000.
