Hi and welcome, can you please introduce yourself?
Hi and thanks for interviewing me. I am a businessman who accidentally entered the world of blogging. After a few years of working in the corporate sector I decided to start up on my own in business which I still run. It was while troubleshooting a Windows problem in my office, I took to the Windows OS and before I realized it, I was participating in tech forums – which subsequently lead to my entering the world of blogging around 10 years back.
How did you first become a blogger?
After spending time in online tech forums I decided that most of the questions were being repeated. It was this idea of repetition that gave me the idea to host all of my answers in a single website. That’s how I started winvistaclub.com, but after the Vista version of Windows was phased out I changed the site to TheWindowsClub.com to allow for future version changes.
What do you think are the most important factors to be a successful blogger?
Deliver quality content consistently! You need to have a good command over the language you use and know your subject well.
Which are the most important factors do you consider about the success metrics of your blog?
My site gets around10-12 million page-views per month. Page Views are an important metric for me – but the number of people that we have helped is more important.
What do you think about blogging in India? Are the bloggers passionate enough?
Some bloggers I have met are very passionate and show promise. And then there are some new bloggers I have met in India who are in a hurry to get rich quick. They look at the short term, and are secretly looking for that ‘jugaad’ that will allow them to acquire high traffic and reach dizzying heights of revenue quickly – not realizing that, to make good money, you need to first build up a strong reputation for your blog. At least that is what I believe in – the good old fashioned way – where optimized content is still the King!.😉
What are the challenges initially when you first start your blog?
The development of the first site was originally a headache. We used a HTML site and worked with Dreamweaver and SmartFTP. For TheWindowsClub.com however I changed to WordPress.
How do you monetize your blog?
I have used several well-known ad networks but found that Google AdSense pays me the best. So, I use it – and I am also an affiliate for a few software.
What do you think should be the success strategy for new bloggers?
Have your own idea, focus on the niche and stick with it. If you provide something of value to the readers, they will come and visit your site. It may take time – maybe a couple of years, but don’t give up!
What are your future plans?
Relish every moment I blog! That is all what I want to do currently.
